As a Black woman writer on Medium, I agree with this statement. How much money would you like to bet that the majority of the people who wrote the code for the algorithm are NOT people of color? I ask that question because unconsious bias has been scientificly proven to exist. Maybe the programmers don't actively look to exclude writers of color, but that does not mean it doesn't creep into what is actually served upto the majority of readers.
